Hi guys, hope you’re having a wonderful week! I decided to skip my monthly gems post for April but if you’re interested in some new beauty products to try then be sure to check out this post. 🙂 I have been doing a ton of behind the scenes work for my blog lately and plan on making some improvements to my blog so stay tuned! 🙂
Anyway, I’m very excited to share this new post with you about 6 things that are blocking you from succeeding. As a disclaimer, I am not implying that I’m a major success whatsoever. If anything, I am pretty much starting all over again since I left the corporate world to become a SAHM. These are just my personal opinions about what can stop someone from succeeding. Feel free to chime in on the comments section and let me know what you think!
1. Fear of failing.
There have been so many times when I was scared to try something new due to the fear of failing. This was due to lack of confidence and not knowing what the outcome would be. Nowadays I feel like my days are passing by so quickly and I don’t want my fears to hold me back. The time I wasted thinking about the “what if’s” could’ve been used by putting effort into something that I want to accomplish. If I end up failing at something, I always learn something new from it. I ask myself what I should have done differently and think about how I can apply those changes so that I won’t have the same outcome. I also have to remind myself that people that are highly successful most likely failed many times and learned from their mistakes to get to where they are today.
2. Comparing yourself to others.
This is another thing that I’m guilty of. It’s really hard not to compare yourself to others when people are always sharing or flaunting their personal lives on social media. You just have to remember that most people only like to share the positive parts of their life. No one lives a perfect life and you must recognize that we all have good days and bad days. If you follow my Instagram stories or Snapchat, then you know how busy and chaotic my days can be! It’s also important to remember not to compare the beginning of your journey to someone who put in their time and has been doing the same thing for many years. We are all on our own journey!
3. Not enjoying the journey.
Speaking of journey, it’s so important to enjoy your journey! Times will get hard but you must not let it discourage you or make you fall off track. There will always be road bumps and hiccups along the way before you get to where you want to be.
4. Surrounding yourself with negativity.
Being around negative people can be extremely toxic. It’s important to have a great support system that encourages you to do your best or help lift you up when you’re down. I know it can sometimes be hard to cut out toxic people because they have been a part of your life for so long but you must do what’s best for you. Make sure you check out this post if you want to learn more about removing toxins from your life.
5. Not having a to-do list.
If succeeding is your #1 goal, then you must have a plan. I’ve learned that it’s so important for me to have a to-do list so I know what to do and when to complete it by. Having a list will not only help you be more organized but it will also hold you accountable. The thing I love about having a list is being able to check things off because it means that I’m making progress!
6. Staying in your comfort zone.
I have written an entire post here about stepping out of my comfort zone. If you want to accomplish a goal and achieve new results, then you must do something different that you haven’t done before. This may require you to get out of your comfort zone but you can’t expect to do the same thing over and over again and expect to achieve different results.
I hope you enjoyed this post! Feel free to add anything to the list regarding what you think can stop you from succeeding, or let me know what other career topics you’d like me to cover in the future!
