It has been quite some time since I’ve made a contribution to my quick tips series. Today I want to talk about 5 things that help me feel relaxed. Often times I feel like I have too much on my plate and I just need to do things that make me feel like I have a weight lifted off my shoulders. I hope you enjoy these tips!
1. Hanging out at a coffee shop or bakery.
One of my favorite things to do is to sit down with a cup of coffee, enjoy some sweets, and get lost in a good book. Nothing is more relaxing than shutting out my surroundings and putting all of my focus and energy into a book. Reading helps me escape and allows me to learn new things. Of course I can always read at home but it’s nice to get out of my normal environment every once in a while. If you’ve read any great books lately then please let me know. I’m open to recommendations!
I know I already mentioned this in a couple other posts but I love doing barre workouts. If you’ve never been to barre class before, it is basically a combination of yoga, pilates, and ballet. It works out your tiniest muscles and will make your legs shake uncontrollably when you hit your challenge point! It looks easy but is definitely no joke! I know barre studios and gym memberships can be pricey but a great way to work out for free is walking. I love going on walks in my neighborhood and at the park. It’s nice to get fresh air and it really helps clear my mind. The great thing about working out is that no matter how challenging it is, I’m always in a great mood afterwards!
Anyone that knows me knows that I love food and cooking! It is a great way for me to feel relaxed because I get to be creative or try something new. Of course it’s much harder now that I have a toddler and if I’m being completely honest, I actually spend more time heating food up in the microwave than cooking a fresh meal! Every once in a while I do get to spend time in the kitchen and whip up a great meal. I love challenging myself artistically and creatively and cooking allows me to do that.
I think this is an obvious one for me and it is the reason why I decided to start blogging. Creative writing was always one of my favorite subjects in school since I was a little girl. It gives me the ability to be candid and freely express myself. I believe I am much better at writing than speaking since I grew up very shy. I am so happy that blogging gives me a platform to do what I love. It is both relaxing and fulfilling to know that my writing has an impact on people. I get really happy when someone reads my blog posts and let’s me know that they understand where I’m coming from and are able to relate to what I have experienced. It helps remind me that writing can be very powerful and influential.
5. Listening to music.
I always enjoy listening to music, whether I’m driving, doing chores, or trying to put my son to sleep. I like listening to upbeat music when I’m working out or doing chores because it motivates me to keep on going. I put on slower music when I want to wind down or put my son down for a nap. The music I listen to just really depends on my mood or what I’m doing.
This wraps up my tips on what I do to feel relaxed! I am hoping you were able to pick up some helpful ideas. Feel free to let me know what helps you relax!
