Recently, someone in a local Facebook blogging group that I’m in asked everyone what they enjoy most about blogging. When I read that question, it really got me thinking about why I enjoy blogging. I thought this would make a really great topic for me to discuss in a new coffee talk post so I could dig deeper into this subject.
I really like how blogging allows me to write about anything I want. Everything that I write about is based on my personal experiences, whether it is motherhood, career advice, or tips to live a happier life. When I thought about starting a blog, I was thinking about creating a specific niche and categorizing myself as a mommy blogger. Then I realized that I am more than just a mother and I would like to widen the range of topics I share that others can also relate to. Above is a picture of me and my little guy from earlier this summer. A lot of the inspiration that I have for G&J is actually from him! 🙂
Managing a blog challenges me in different ways. Bloggers have many roles. I’m a writer, editor, social media manager, etc. I know there are long time bloggers that actually hire a team or interns to help them because there’s so much work that goes on behind the scenes. Although managing a blog is very time consuming, I truly do enjoy it. I get to be creative, I have to be very organized, and learning how to balance all of my work is a must!
There’s always something new to learn. I just want to piggy back on my last point and reiterate how challenging blogging is. No matter how long you’ve been blogging, there’s always something new to learn. I’m still trying to learn my way through the many different social media platforms out there. It can be pretty difficult to figure out the in’s and out’s of social media and what strategically works for one blogger might not work for another. When I worked an office job, it became so repetitive and boring. When I feel like there’s nothing new for me to learn, I start losing interest and motivation. Blogging is far from repetitive or boring!
Blogging gives me the ability to help others. As I mentioned earlier, all of my posts are based on my personal experiences. I feel so great when others find my content beneficial to them in some shape or form. I also get really happy when others share my posts because it makes me feel that there’s a purpose to what I do. My goal is to be able to help and inspire others. I’ve always wanted to have a job where I could make a positive impact on others and blogging gives me a platform to do so.
I enjoy interacting with other bloggers and readers. It’s really amazing how there are so many other supportive bloggers out there! Nowadays, it seems like the blogging community is getting bigger and bigger and it’s easy to get lost and compare yourself to others. It can also be a competitive community to be part of but I am thankful to be able to network with individuals who have helped me with my blog or sent me encouraging words.
To sum things up, blogging is definitely a lot of work! Although it may only take a few minutes to read my post, there are hours of work that goes on behind the scenes to create the post. I give lots of credit to those who are able to manage their blog along with other things going on in their busy lives. There’s a reason why I stay up late after my son goes to bed to work on my blog. It’s because of the reasons I listed above and my passion for writing!
If you’re a blogger, tell me what you love about blogging!
Have a great day!
