Is it really already the first day of March? Where has the time gone?! I don’t know about you, but each day (and year) seems to go by faster and faster for me. Often times I’ll let each day pass me by and I don’t really take the time to slow down and just enjoy the moment. Now that I’m a mom, it’s even more difficult for me to stay put together and organized but it’s something I’m working on. I realized that I need to take better care of myself and cherish every moment in my life so I compiled a list of things I plan to work on during the Spring.
1. Stop and smell the roses.
I feel like I’m always in a hurry and juggling ten things at the same time. Sounds familiar, right? Why is that we’re living in a culture where we always have to be busy nonstop and feel guilty for slowing down or taking a break? We should be able to slow down and soak in the joyful moments in our lives. One suggestion is knowing when to unplug from technology. I know it is hard since we’re always glued to our phones, tablets, computers, etc. but I remember when life was much more simple before we became addicted to electronic devices.
2. Enjoy some fresh air.
Being a mom to a newborn is a lot of work. Ok, let me rephrase that. Being a mom period is a lot of work! Sometimes I feel so cooped up inside taking care of Gabriel and making sure everything is situated at home that I don’t even get to step outside. Then before I know it, it’s already dark outside. I will make it a goal to go for a walk whenever the weather is nice. It’ll be great for me to get some fresh air and also enjoy the outdoor scenery.
3. Eat healthier.
I used to be quite a health nut but I must admit that lately I’ve been eating horribly. Often times I am just too tired to put any thought into what I’m eating. My goal is to cook healthier meals and keep track of what I eat. I like tracking my meals on MyFitnessPal. It is pretty easy and convenient to use. Let me know if there are any other meal tracking apps that you recommend!
4. Pick up a new hobby.
I would like to develop a new skill or try a new hobby. It’s been a while since I’ve pushed myself to try something new so I am looking for something that will challenge me. Have you ever tried Barre? That’s something I have always wanted to try! I like how it’s a workout that I can also do at home. I’m sure there are tons of barre workout videos on youtube that I can try. I am also interested in painting and photography. I have always been fascinated by art and I feel that those two hobbies will really challenge me to be more creative.
5. Enjoy every single moment with Gabriel.
Ok, this isn’t just a goal for the Spring but I thought I would still mention it. Gabriel is 8 weeks old and he is already growing up fast! Everyone keeps telling me to enjoy him while he’s tiny and small enough to hold, so that’s exactly what I’m doing. Some tell me not to hold him too much because he will get spoiled. I know he won’t be this small forever so I’m going to take advantage of holding him and cuddling with him as much as I can. You can say I’m spoiling him but he’s going to start crawling and walking before I know it! I will definitely be sad the day he no longer wants to be held!
Tell me: What are your plans or goals for the Spring?
